Havstoudd (HÖ2)
The Light Battery
Overall, this is a smaller installation than the one at Storråberget. The battery couldn’t shoot as far as the one at Storråberget, but it was faster. The battery’s range was nine kilometers, with a firing rate of 25 shots per gun per minute. Havstoudd is located approximately seven kilometers north of Storråberget as the crow flies.
In the early 1960s, the coastal artillery was modernized, and a decision was made to add 30 fixed batteries consisting of the Bofors fixed turret gun m/57 with a caliber of 7.5 cm. They were built in three series, all with special features, from 1961 to 1975 and were placed in the coastal belt in locations such as Hemsö, Sundsvall, Karlshamn, Simrishamn, Malmö, Lysekil, Marstrand, and Fårö.
A battery consisted of three guns with a common fire control function in the mountain for maximum protection, even against nuclear weapons. In the first eight batteries, built between 1961 and 1965, the three guns were connected through a central tunnel where, in addition to fire control, there were assembly areas, power supply, accommodations, kitchens, and workshops. Because of the over 450-meter-long central tunnel, the grouping of the guns was quite dense, with approximately 200 meters between each unit.
From the central tunnel in Havstoudd, connections lead out to the three guns, the fire control center, and the mine station. There are also ladder shafts used when the rifle pits were to be manned.
The battery was equipped with three 7.5 cm turret guns m/57. The installation also included 40 rifle pits for close defense and five shelters for personnel.
Other above-ground buildings consist of a larger accommodation building and several smaller storage buildings. All buildings are constructed of wood with a simple design.
